Artificial Inteligence is evolving with Apple technologies

ABOUT THE TOPIC
Let’s say you are distracted from the road and someone is just crossing the street. The car detects this person and reacts quickly and stops the car automatically.  How does this work? Well, technology can detect a person because of AI (Artificial Intelligence). This article is about the developments of AI at Apple.

ABOUT THE COLLABORATION
This article will discuss the collaboration between Apple and professors Ruslan Salakhutdinov of Carnegie Mellon University, one of the top institutions of AI development in the world.

“AI techniques have become an essential part of the technology industry, helping to solve various challenging problems in computer science, software engineering and operations research.”

ABOUT THE BENEFITS
AI is constantly evolving and AI techniques have become an essential part of the technology industry, helping to solve various challenging problems in computer science, software engineering and operations research. Apple strives to maintain a top area in the technology development branch.  The company was happy to take on board the best professors and university in the world of  AI developments. Deciding to collaborate with the Carnegie Mellon University and hiring Ruslan Salakhutdinov is one of great value and both businesses will create new developments about how to implement AI in our daily life.

ABOUT THE OUTCOME
At the moment there are no results made public.

ABOUT THE RESEARCH
The way how AI research is done now is to let computers try to learn from a large database of examples if it concerns deep learning and neural network research. In many cases, this type of research is partly supervised.  The collaboration end goal is to figure out how to get AI to learn from raw material.  Getting AI to learn from raw material is called “unsupervised learning”. Which is difficult, because there are now examples beforehand.

ABOUT THE PARTNERS
The main partners are Apple, Carnegie Mellon University and professors Ruslan Salakhutdinov.
